It is true for me that one person is worth it to write this blog. Even it convinces just one person to be daring and take the plunge and finally make your opportunity to learn to play the piano.
I know have have written many times about my experience of having people tell me that they would love to learn to play the piano. Since starting to write this blog, I have had several more tell me that they would like to learn. Just recently I had a conversation with a lady that I was meeting for the first time and as soon as I told her that I teach piano, she shared with me her dream to play the piano. While it is a common conversation for me, I understand it is never common for the other person because it is not every day that any of us shares a desire or a dream with a complete stranger. I feel very privileged to have strangers share their desire to play the piano with me. I also see it as an opportunity to encourage them.
The last time this happened was quite recently and when the lady in question, shared with me that she was going to learn, I told her about this blog, which she was very interested in. Afterwards I thought how much I enjoy these encounters and now I not only can offer them my encouragement on the spot, I can continue to encourage them through this blog.
I also had the subsequent thought, later that day, that even if I made a difference to just one person, it would be worth writing this blog. I want people who have the desire to learn to play the piano, not to keep it as a desire, but see that desire come to fruition. I want people to experience what I have for many years – joy, happiness and even consolation and comfort in the hard times. I also experience satisfaction and a chance to escape what is sometimes the daily grind. For me, playing the piano is like visiting a very dear friend that uplifts me.
I want people who desire to learn the piano, to learn, so they can experience what I have and continue to do so. That is the reason why I started this blog and it is the reason why I try to encourage others. So that is why I say that it is worth it to me if I only ever encourage just one person to learn to play the piano in their retirement. As an added bonus for me, I have now discovered through this blog, that I actually enjoy writing.
