A Review of Piano Video Lessons

Piano Video lessons is both a website and a You Tube Channel. Both present as a very professionally run business and at first glance, I’m actually quite impressed with the quality of information given and the way that it is all presented.

As part of the You Tube channel there about 96 sequential lessons that are available. I have not looked at every single one, but I have viewed a random selection of videos and I am impressed. Clearly the creator has put in a lot of time and effort to produce so many videos  where everything is explained fully. I also like the fact that the videos are only about ten to twelve minutes long because the information is presented in bite size chunks. The other good thing is that if you want to find a particular section or comment, then 10 minutes duration makes it easy to sift though to find what you are looking for.

What really impresses me about this material is that the theory is fully explained. If you wanted to learn music theory, then this would definitely be the way to go. If you are not really interested in learning music theory but are more interested in just playing the piano, then this might not be the best course for you to take.

As well as having an extensive amount of videos on You Tube that are sequential, there is accompanying print outs of the material that the presenter covers on their website, which is pianovideolessons.com. Some other people that have a You Tube channel for teaching people how to play the piano provide accompanying print out for free, whereas Piano Video Lessons do charge for their printable material. It is obviously the way they can earn some money for their content. At the time of writing, I think that the prices that they charge are quite reasonable and I think that it is fair and reasonable that the person or persons involved in putting together this comprehensive program, do deserve to make some money from their sizeable efforts.

Because the videos are free to watch on You Tube and the printable material is not free, you could be a cheapskate (nothing wrong with being a cheapskate!) and just get the necessary information from the videos only. I could see this working for some people. Obviously if you want to get the quickest results in the shortest possible time frame, then I would recommend buying the books for sale on the website.

Overall, I would recommend this resource  and if you are not sure of whether you would like to learn via this series of videos, then check out the first two of the videos – it should give enough information for you to decide whether you would enjoy watching and learning from them.
