A Review of Piano Roadmap

Piano Roadmap is a You Tube channel that I have stumbled upon in my quest to find decent resources for you online.

I like Piano Roadmap because first and foremost, the lady that is featured (I believe her name is Susan), knows what she is talking about. She clearly has been or currently is a piano teacher. She knows how to break information down and explain everything in simple terms.

Even though I like to teach note read skills from the very first lesson I ever teach a new student, Piano Roadmap waits until the third lesson in the series. Considering the content that is presented in lessons one and two, I can see why it is not until lesson 3 that note reading skills start to happen and I can also see this working for many who are trying to teach themselves how to play the piano.

I think this series of videos would be well suited to an American audience, as they use in Piano Roadmap, the American terminology rather than the British terminology. People from the UK, Australia, New Zealand and the like might prefer another series of You Tube videos that use the British terminology, but it certainly does not render Piano Roadmap as useless.

One of the aspects that make me really impressed with the Piano Roadmap series, is that you can join their private Facebook group called Piano Roadmap Community and get support for your journey of learning to play the piano. I am not a member myself, however, in one of the videos it is stated that the whole purpose of the group is to get help, get support and encouragement and also give help and support to other members. The great thing is that it is a private group, which makes sharing a whole lot easier. I think it is a wonderful idea and a way of getting feedback for how well you are going.

I think the person or people behind Piano Roadmap have really put in a great deal of thought and effort into producing these numerous videos and I applaud them linking it up to a Facebook group. For many adults, I could see this as a way of learning to play the piano for free. I think that this You Tube channel is really worth investigating.
